About these tools

Local governments across Australia and New Zealand engage .id to produce population forecasts for their local areas. Delivered online, these demographic tools become a public resource for everyone to access.

The websites are listed by local government area. Click on the name of the area to access the data. If you can’t find the area you are looking for, please contact us.

You can be confident about the quality of the information as it is analysed and presented by population experts, funded by local government and regularly updated.

Population forecasts are provided for each local government area and its suburbs with results provided each year from 2011 to 2036. They show how the population, number of dwellings, age and household structure will change over this period.

.id has two sets of population forecasts. If you are not sure which one you should be using, please refer to this article – forecast.id or SAFI – which forecast should I use?
