This is an amazing opportunity to join a small start-up team within an established organisation. You will get to work with our existing local government clients (over 250 councils subscribe to .id’s products and services) to establish a new offering providing evidence and advice that helps local government better understand their local housing markets. Your role will be to assist us in building our housing business, including our new online information product, housing.id.

Based in our Collingwood office, the successful candidate will display a drive to build a business with an entrepreneurial spirit.

.id (Informed Decisions) are experts in demographics, population forecasting, economics and housing, dedicated to informing decisions that shape our future.

Initially formed by a small group of ‘corporate refugees’, we are passionate about what we do, who we work with and how we work together. We value people who are both bold and humble in their approach.

The Housing Team is a small start-up within .id, formed 18 months ago. So far the team have been responsible for the development of our new product, housing.id and delivering bespoke housing consulting solutions to our clients. Now we’re looking for the right person to help us grow and scale.

As a business development and client consultant at .id, you’re faced with many opportunities. Here are just some of the things you’ll do:

  • Strategy and leadership
    • Take the strategic lead for business development within the team
    • Participate in monthly, companywide strategy meetings
  • Business development
    • Drive the sales and marketing strategy e.g. writing blogs, email marketing campaigns, attending conferences
    • Responding to initial queries via the website, marketing campaigns and referrals from other client managers
    • Organising and leading introductory meetings with potential clients from inbound and outbound sources
    • Write proposals i.e. scoping a potential piece of work in detail, in consultation with other parts of the business
    • Research potential demographic data and Council policies to inform proposals
    • Draft and negotiate contracts (with support from legal advice)
  • Client engagement
    • Develop an understanding of client needs
    • Maintain existing client relationships
    • Respond to client enquiries and feedback
    • Provide training for housing.id and presentations on an area’s housing story
    • Technical support for housing.id users

  • Interested in cities and planning
  • Experienced working in the housing space (e.g. strategic planning, research, community organisation) – desirable.
  • Knowledgeable of the Local Government environment (bringing a network is highly desirable)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in related role or field
  • Comfortable working with the uncertainty of a new venture
  • Client-focused mindset
  • Love of travel
