.id has been producing population forecasts ( for local government for the last 25 years.  We have established the market and set the industry standard for local area population forecasting in Australia. Over 130 councils subscribe to our forecasting platform, and over 450,000 people use this information tool each year. We are on a mission to expand our influence and substantially grow our client base.  This is where you come in….


We need someone to join the team … 

We need an experienced, energetic and entrepreneurial person to join our Melbourne based team and drive our client acquisition and retention program.


You will…

  1. Be guided by our 5 year strategy with a primary focus on significantly increasing our client base.
  2. Execute the client acquisition strategy, and improve the strategy as you go.
  3. Build a consistent pipeline of sales opportunities through both marketing and sales activities.
  4. Nurture leads, write proposals and close sales of to prospective Councils.
  5. Take a lead role in nurturing existing Client Relationships, keeping our communications consistent and clear, developing relationships with clients to help them succeed using our product, and feeding that back to the team.
  6. Be able to travel interstate and have a valid drivers licence.


You are…

Really important. Our team is now in a position where it needs a person to work with new and current clients, helping them best use the tools provides them. In short, we’re looking for someone who…

  1. Has a bold and entrepreneurial disposition.
  2. Connects with .id’s vision and values (bold, humble, compassionate, knowledge, together, influence).
  3. Is an excellent and empathetic communicator. You are strong in the written form, have sharp presentation and oration skills and are comfortable communicating across multiple mediums (written, verbal, video, etc). You will be able to demonstrate a track record in this regard.
  4. Has a proven commercial capability in sales (and ideally marketing).
  5. Has written winning proposals and tenders, have helped clients succeed and developed enduring relationships.
  6. Is curious and looking to grow. You will have an interest in the trends that are impacting our present and shaping our future.
  7. is comfortable sharing your ideas.
  8. is committed to working in a team environment that is structured on agile principles.

Since 1997, our eclectic team of geographers, demographers, economists, population forecasters, social researchers and software engineers have been using data to tell stories about Australian places and communities.


We study how cities, towns and regions are changing, create intuitive web applications for people with diverse needs and provide our clients with real, relevant and relatable value from the data that we collect and/or source. We help Local Government to make informed decisions about when and where to provide services, invest and advocate. At present, we provide services to more than 330 Australian councils, other levels of government and the private sector.


We have a demonstrated track-record of innovation and, as the external environment changes and our clients require new data sources, products and services to continue to act in the best interests of their community, we are there to meet that need.

Below is a list of some of the things you can expect as an .id person:

  • Tools of the trade: We want you to have the best tools for you job. Teams know best what they need, so they decide what they get.
  • Flexibility: We mean it. Need to work around family and other commitments? We’ll find a way to make it work.
  • Learning and development: .id is committed to the development of our people. You know best how you like to learn, so we have simple rules for individuals or teams to source and book L&D. And no arbitrary budget caps.
  • Paid parental leave: Anyone who’s been with us for 2 years and longer is eligible for 12 weeks at full pay.
  • Bonus scheme: Another one for the folk who’ve been with us at least 2 years: when we have a cash surplus, up to 10% will be allocated to employee bonus payments.
  • Time out: We shut down between Christmas and New Year. You get paid, and it doesn’t come out of your annual leave. You can also purchase up to 4 weeks extra leave.
  • A great office: Located just off Smith St, our Collingwood warehouse conversion has plenty of space for bikes (and lockers and showers for cyclists!)
  • Help yourself: Not in the mood to head to one of our nearby cafes? There’s always coffee (and tea) ready to go. Feel like a tipple after work? There are plenty of bars nearby, or just grab a beer or wine from the fridge or cupboard and join us on the deck.
