Who we are

At .id (informed decisions), we believe that where you live should not limit your access to essential services like housing, healthcare, and education.

For over 27 years, we've been driven by a vision of creating thriving, inclusive communities through data-driven insights and human-centered decision-making.

We combine the best of artificial intelligence and human expertise to empower decision-makers with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to build sustainable, well-planned communities. Our team of passionate geographers, urban planners, economists, valuers, social researchers, and data scientists work alongside cutting-edge technology to provide actionable insights that lead to informed, bold decisions.

Our approach connects data with the stories of people and place - delivering an independent fact base that not only drives growth but fosters opportunity for all.

The Role

Over the next 12 months, the business will be looking to grow substantially, and these Engineering Manager roles will be key to uplifting their team and the wider engineering department as we try to become a destination for engineers across Melbourne. In doing so, we will build a culture focused on a learning and growth mindset, people-centricity, low ego, open and transparent communication, collaborative and autonomous teams, and a desire to deliver customer value.

The Engineering Manager will help instil modern and effective engineering behaviours in the team. They will improve the team based on delivery principles such as delivering customer value regularly; involving the dev team early and regularly to understand the “why”; shifting left to reduce handoffs, improve collaboration and increase quality; focusing on flow by limiting WIP, slicing thinner, pairing, swarming and mobbing when appropriate; and continuously reflecting and improving. They will also improve our engineering practices in Test Driven Development, Clean Code practices, CI/CD, engineering guardrails, Data Engineering, and how we leverage AI.

We are looking for 2 different Engineering Managers, one will be working with a larger team looking to uplift significantly in practices and technology, and the other is a smaller team needing more lower-level involvement to build functionality and stakeholder and product management support.

Engineering Managers work closely with their Product Manager to lead the Product-Engineering team. They are accountable for the team’s delivery (including ways of working), people leadership and development, and the team’s technology and architecture (although this will often be delegated to a Tech Lead).

  • You can work with some of the tech stack described above, but enough tech experience able to help us decide on a future tech stack
  • It would be great if you want to work full-time, but understand that it is not for everyone, so part-time will work too.
