Introducing the 'Living in Place
Community Survey' Climate Change Questions
Understand your community's views on climate change and its impacts.
Navigating the impacts of climate change represents one of the biggest challenges facing Australia. Given the diversity of Australian communities, local government has an important role to play through direct policy and community advocacy. We believe that council and community alignment on climate policy is crucial to creating sustainable action that will lead to better outcomes.
The .id(informed decisions) Community Views team are thrilled to introduce the new Living in Place: Climate Change Questions created for councils who sign-on to, or are currently subscribed, to The Living in Place and Community Survey/views.id Insights Platform.
These questions are being offered as an additional paid module to local government now. Benchmarks will be collected across March / April 2024 as part of .id’s annual National Liveability Survey.
About our climate change questions
Our climate questions, outlined below, cover the topics of belief and attribution, as well as personal and local area vulnerability, adaptability and mitigation.
1. Beliefs: the validity of climate change as a threat.
2. Attribution: what contributes to climate change.
3. Vulnerability: how climate change is currently impacting them and their quality of life.
4. Adaptably: confidence they will be able to adapt to the effects of climate change.
5. Mitigation: best ways to mitigate the effects of climate change where they live.

We believe local government plays a critical role in addressing Australia's climate challenge.
We also believe that understanding and incorporating local area community views of climate change - its impact and mitigation priorities - into climate policy and advocacy will lead to more resident centric decision making, sustainable actions and ultimately better climate outcomes.
To help councils understand their community's views regarding climate change, .id has created a Climate Change questionnaire module as an extension to our existing Living in Place community survey.
To introduce Councils to this new this service we are hosting online information sessions for Metro and Regional Councils:

About Living in Place & views.id
The local government sector's need for credibly sourced, genuinely representative and externally comparable survey data and insight has never been greater. Residents, other levels of government and even the private sector are placing higher-expectations on councils to ensure that their community's views are more comprehensively incorporated, monitored and ultimately evaluated in local government strategic planning and advocacy. Living in Place and the views.id reporting and exploratory platform have been created to meet this need.
About the Living in Place Community Survey
Living in Place is an independent, robust and repeatable community survey that seeks to understand and advance the liveability of Australians’ local areas. It uses 16 critical attributes to understand community values and experiences, calculate local area liveability and determine future needs. It takes just five minutes to administer and can also understand health & wellbeing, financial circumstances, community concerns and ideas for improving quality of life.
About The views.id reporting platform
views.id analyses and reports survey insights for Australian LGAs and related groups. It shows how local area values and experiences compare to national benchmarks, how perspectives change spatially across local areas and explores the role that demography and life-stage play in informing future needs. It monitors change over time and is also home to tailored reports, insights and resources that help our clients maximise the value they receive from investing in their community's views.
Trusted by a diverse and growing number of councils and other organisations
